MORTON - Virginia J. (Long) Hancock, of Morton, Ill., passed away at 6:50 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016.
She was born December 15, 1928, in Maryville, Tenn. to Andrew and Blanche (McNelly) Long. She married Ray Hancock Dec. 11, 1946 in Mobridge, S.D.
Surviving are her husband, Ray Hancock of Morton; one daughter, Donnas (Bruce) Hertenstein of Morton; one grandson, Erik (Gina) Bonner of Berea, Ky.; five great grandchildren, Favian, Jazper, Thessaly and Zen Anello of Berea, Ky. and Jade Bonner of Pekin; one sister, Phyllis (Allen) Ross.
She was preceded in death by grandson, Phillip Bonner.
Virginia worked 57 years for Caterpillar Tractor, Inc. in management at the Parts Distribution Center in Morton.
Virginia traveled all over the world on vacations and with her work. She and her husband enjoyed occasional trips to the Par-A-Dice Casino.
Virginia was an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed sewing and quilting. She was also known for having a green thumb who could give life to any plant.
She was very devoted to her family who will miss her very much. She was always ready to help other people.
There will be no visitation or services.
Cremation rights will be accorded.
Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton is handling arrangements.
