MORTON - Richard L. Weber, 86, of Morton, passed away at 4:38 a.m., Friday, August 19, 2016, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, surrounded by his family.
He was born May 11, 1930 in Peoria, Ill, to August and Sophia (Hoppe) Weber. He married Margaret M. Minger on June 14, 1953, in Eureka, Ill.
Richard is survived by his wife, Margaret of Morton; 2 daughters, Amy (Gary) Zander of Pekin, and Julie (Ron) Leuelling of Denver, N.C.; son, Matthew (Karen) Weber of Weatherford, Texas; four grandchildren, Daniel and Joseph Leuelling of Denver, N.C., Kaci Zander and Kyndall (Shannon) Zander of Pekin; three great-grandchildren, Owen, Scout, and Vann.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Rita Kipling.
After graduating from Eureka High School in 1948, he attended the University of Illinois.
Richard served during the Korean War with the first Marine division from 1950 to 1953 obtaining the rank of Sergeant.
He was employed at WABCO as a District Sales Manager.
Richard was a devoted Chicago Cubs fan and an avid fisherman. He loved his garden and his wife's cooking. He was an active member of the American Legion, Post 318.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Monday, August 22, 2016 at Knapp Johnson Funeral Home in Morton. There will be a private funeral service for the family held at a later date, with Pastor Larry Timm officiating. Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by the United States Marines and Tazewell Military Rites Team.
