MORTON - Joseph A. Mortimeyer, 31, of Morton, passed away at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016 in Morton.
He was born on May 30, 1985 in Peoria, Ill., to John and Sara (Mann) Mortimeyer.
Surviving are his father, John Mortimeyer of Morton; mother, Sara Mortimeyer of Wichita Falls, Texas; one brother, John (Tori Loser) Mortimeyer II of Morton; two nephews and one niece; Mason, Myles, and Ellie Mortimeyer of Morton; four aunts, Lavina Marie (Preston) Morgan of Rockford, Robin Brown and Becky Bridges, both of Peoria, and Geneva (Dale) Brown of East Peoria; and 6 cousins.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; Dr. John and Jane Mortimeyer; and maternal grandparents, Paul and Marilyn Mann.
Joseph was a truck driver for G&D Trucking in Morton.
He attended Cross Point Church in East Peoria.
Joseph was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed fishing, golfing, and driving his semi-truck. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, with Pastor Josh Gutteridge officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at the funeral home. Further visitation will be held on Saturday from 9 to 9:45 a.m., prior to the service. Burial will be in Hirstein Cemetery.
