MORTON - Elaine K. Schmidgall, 74, of Morton, passed away at 12:23 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, 2016, at Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria surrounded by her family.
She was born Sept. 13, 1941, in Bloomington, Ill. to George and Lorine (Miller) Stoller. She married Jack Schmidgall on June 26, 1960, in Bloomington, Ill. He preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 2015.
Surviving are her children, one daughter, Kimberly (Dr. Lawrence J. Jr.) Rossi of Morton; one son, Kurt (Tammy) Schmidgall of Morton; four grandchildren, Matthew (Haley) Rossi, Wade Rossi, Sophia Rossi and Kennedy Schmidgall; one brother, Don (Iantha) Stoller of Gridley, Ill.; one sister, Nancy (Merle) Sauder of Tremont; and her mother-in-law, Helen Schmidgall of Morton.
Elaine worked at the Credit Bureau in Peoria while her husband was attending Bradley University. She later managed the International Tanning Center in Morton, where she met many wonderful people.
Elaine and her husband loved to travel. For the past 18 years, they wintered in Naples, Fla., where they attended the Apostolic Christian Church in Estero, Fla.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great friend to many and loved to serve others.
Elaine was a member of Morton Apostolic Christian Church.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Further visitation will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. at Morton Apostolic Christian Church, with church ministers officiating. Burial will be in the Morton Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.

The family would like to thank all of Elaine's caregivers for the wonderful care she received during her battle with cancer. Her miraculous nine year survival and her fighting spirit was a testimony of her faith.
