DOROTHEA M. HINDERT
MORTON - Dorothea M. "Dottie" Hindert, 85, of Morton, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at 9:47 a.m. Sunday, July 31, 2016, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born Feb. 9, 1931, in Kentucky, to George Rudolph and Anna Rose (Butler) Popp. She married Alan Hobbs Olinger on Aug. 28, 1954 in Indianapolis, Ind. who preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 1979. She later married James Joseph Hindert on April 3, 1982 in Morton, Ill, he preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 2008. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Kevin and David Olinger; and one grandson, Jordan Johns.
Surviving are one son, Keith (Lisa) Olinger of St. Charles, Ill.; 4 daughters, Karen (Norm) Johns of Bloomingdale, Ill., Kathy (Tom) Pauszek of Fishers, Ind., Kim (Jeff) Lynch of Morton, Kelly (Mark) Mittelstaedt of Springfield, Ill.; one daughter-in-law, Anna (Keith) Bohnker of Morton; 13 grandchildren, Taylor Johns, Shauna (Will) Feest, Leah (Alok) Gupta, Drew and Ryan Lynch, Jessica, Nathan and Delaney Olinger, Rachel and Luke Mittelstaedt, Doug (Chelsea) Bohnker, Jeff and Ashley Bohnker; 3 great-grandchildren, Savannah Feest, Riley and Caitlin Bohnker; and one sister, Barbara Cain of Bradenton, Fla. Dottie is also survived by Jim Hindert's 5 children, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Dottie attended Indiana University where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She graduated in 1953 having earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.
She taught 5th grade for several years and then became a substitute teacher in the Morton school district. Dottie later received an Associate's degree in Business and taught classes at Illinois Central College.
Dottie was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Church and volunteered with We Care, Inc. and Meals on Wheels.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her friends.
She especially enjoyed holidays and family gatherings at her home.
Heaven has gained a very special angel, as she woke up each and every day with a purpose in life and a smile on her face.
Her spunk and perpetual positive attitude were contagious and appreciated by all who met her.
Dottie will be dearly missed by all.
A Rosary Service will be held at 3:45 p.m. followed by a visitation from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Further visitation will be held from 9-9:45 a.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the church with a funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. Msgr. Gerald Ward will officiate. Memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or We Care, Inc.
