PEORIA - Betty V. (Weinberger) French, 90, of Peoria, Ill., formerly of Morton, Ill. and Naples, Fla., passed away at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2016.
She was born January 16, 1926, in Chicago, to Herman and Mattie (Archer) Weinberger. She married Jack French on Sept. 25, 1948, in Peoria.
Surviving are her husband, Jack French of Peoria; two daughters, Diane (Mike) Kovach of Morton and Leslie (Randy) Hopkins of Morton; one son, Jay (Elana) French of Seattle, Wash.; two sisters, Carol (Bruce) Ingersoll of Morton and Judy Lynn Bedard of Moline; 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Brian French in 2011.
Betty graduated from the Methodist School of Nursing in 1948 where she worked as a R.N. at the Methodist Medical Center of Peoria.
At an early age, Betty loved and gave her life to the Lord. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and a leader of Community Bible Study. Betty was a member of the Christian Woman's Club and a supporter of Wycliffe Bible Translators.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 18, 2016 at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2016, and one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Hirstein Cemetery in Morton.
Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton is handling arrangements.
